Action and rejection limits

SecureFeed, in consultation with its participants, has established its own standards that go beyond legal requirements. Raw materials for animal feed are analysed for relevant contaminants in the SecureFeed Animal Feed Monitoring Plan. For many contaminants, legal norms apply. In addition to the legal norms, GMP+ International has its own norms.
SecureFeed, in consultation with its participants, has established its own standards that go beyond legal requirements. These SecureFeed norms consist of action and rejection limits.
By using action limits, potential contamination can be detected at an early stage. This prevents rejection limits from being exceeded, ensuring feed and food safety is not compromised. If the action limit is exceeded, the cause should be investigated and corrective measures should be taken to eliminate or limit the cause.
The rejection limit is a norm for a contaminant that, if exceeded, indicates that a batch is unsuitable for use in animal feed. If necessary, the batch must be removed from the food production chain. When a rejection limit is exceeded, it must be reported to SecureFeed immediately. Action and rejection limits are reviewed annually. Additionally, legal or GMP+ FC norms or analysis results in the monitoring programme may also give cause to revise action or rejection limits.
The overview of action and rejection limits is included in the Quality Manual. For specific information on pesticide norms, click here. For information on notifications and calamities, click here.
