Notifications
SecureFeed's core activities focus on risk management and ensuring food safety. The (animal) feed industry tries to manage risks with proactive and preventive measures. Nevertheless, contamination can never be completely ruled out.
Participants report to SecureFeed when action or rejection limits for contaminants are exceeded. Participants also report deviations and complaints regarding suppliers and/or their products to SecureFeed, for example a rejected shipment.
Participants also report to SecureFeed when there are or have been signals of a threat to feed and food safety.
There are different types of notifications:
Kind of notification | |
---|---|
Signal | Rejection limits not exceeded, adequate control with measures at individual company. |
Alert | Rejection limit exceeded, multiple companies involved. |
Calamity | Damage threatens the integrity of SecureFeed, its participants or the (animal) feed industry, the stability of animal production chains, food and feed safety, and food and feed integrity. |
Rejected shipment | Cargo where food safety is at stake. |
The above description is general; each calamity is unique and is treated individually. As such, the type of notification can differ per case from the general description.

SecureFeed takes charge after the notification to act quickly and adequately. SecureFeed analyzes a signal/alert/calamity. Based on this, the follow-up steps are determined. Any actions are followed up and depending on the situation, the notification can be scaled up or down.
To communicate about a notification, SecureFeed uses telephone consultations, timelines, e-mail and news reports or updates on the website.
