Risk classification animal feed
SecureFeed classifies raw materials in animal feed by risk profile. The different profiles are low, medium and high risk. The risk probability is determined based on the severity of the contaminant and probability that the contaminant occurs in the product. In addition, monitoring results, country of origin and recent developments around the product are also considered in the risk probability. The risk classification is reviewed annually.
Together with the reported purchased tonnages of animal feed that participants (will) supply, the risk classification is an important part of the SecureFeed Animal Feed Monitoring Plan. The risk classification also influences the frequency for supplier audits. The full risk classification overview is shown in the document ‘D-13 Risk Classification SecureFeed 2025’.
For products with a high risk of Aflatoxin B1, an aflatoxin protocol is in place.
If you would like to know more about the aflatoxin protocol, please click here. Special conditions have been drawn up for selected products, due to increased risks of specific contaminants.
